Title: Get up and Relocate

Abraham is told to relocate.

Bible Reading: Genesis 12:1

The Call of Abram

12 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people, and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.[a]

I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”[b]

So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran. He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.

Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring[c] I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

From there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord.

 Second reading Genesis 13:7

And quarreling arose between Abram’s herders and Lot’s. The Canaanites and Perizzites were also living in the land at that time.

So Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives. Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.”

You can relocate through many ways one of those ways can be through physical relocation or even shifting of the way your mind thinks. Today we will be talking about relocating. You can choose to relocate due to many reasons. Maybe what you have been trying for a long time isn’t bearing fruit; Today I encourage you to start a new thing and relocate for you to get a new blessing.

When Abraham was called, he was promised a lot of blessings. He was told he would be famous and a great blessing to many, and his children would be as many as the stars. Despite being promised these things, remember and keep in mind it might have seemed farfetched for He was an old man, and yet even still he had no children!

As our father of faith, he boldly took a step of faith and followed his calling by starting to relocate. He took with him his wife and Lot and ventured into the new land. When Abraham was on this journey, he made sacrifices to God and through this the journey was filled with blessings till they separated with Lot. In addition, the journey also had ups and downs like when his wife was taken as a concubine in that foreign land they decided to relocate into.

It is good to obey the call of God! To get your calling you must go to Him in prayers and ask for his blessing and He will make everything beautiful at its own time.(Ecclesiastes 3:11)

Often we think that it is according to our plans but on the contrary, it isn’t. It is due to the will and mercy of God ye who created you that your prayers are answered. The Bible tells us that He knows us in-depth. (PSALMS 139:1-6) He knows you by name and even by the times that you sit down.

Here is what you do when you get your calling

1. Always remember to build an altar to God for there is great power in its anointing. While Abraham was on His Voyage, he remembered to build an altar.

2. Separate yourself from some people to get your blessings. It is when they go away that your callings blessings down on you.

In conclusion,

I used to think that it was all honeymoon and roses in marriage but to my shocker, it wasn’t. In reality, the situation is very different. I would like to plead with women that;

  1. When you get married avoid being dependent. Instead, work together with your husband.
  2. The elder mothers also have to pray for the young families for they face a lot of trials and tribulations like Abraham and his wife in a foreign land.
  3. To the youth, refrain from overindulgence of alcohol and use of drug substances for they make one a foolish person (PSALMS 20:1)
  4. Work on your today for it will be your benefit tomorrow.

Relocate your mindset. Make up your mind definitely to serve God; and make it a total decision for you cannot serve Him and any other master at the same time.
